After more than 30 years of marriage, these two wanted their photos to celebrate the life they’ve created together. They’ve raised three daughters and walked through many seasons side by side. Her recent breast cancer journey made documenting this chapter feel even more meaningful. I loved getting to capture their connection in a way that felt relaxed, personal, and true to them.

We spent their session wandering Downtown Novato, with historic buildings, storefronts, and quieter corners as our backdrop. These surroundings gave their Novato couples photos a timeless, relaxed feeling with room for a few more editorial portraits. Most of the session focused on the in-between moments. Walking together, laughing, holding hands, and simply being close felt more natural than overly posed photos. After more than 30 years together, that ease and connection were already there.
I photographed the session on a mix of film and digital, adding softness and nostalgia throughout the gallery. One detail I especially wanted to capture was her tattoo honoring her breast cancer journey. After raising three daughters and walking through so many seasons together, these photos felt especially meaningful. These Marin County couples photos weren’t about marking one specific milestone.
