These Bay Area engagement photos at the Marin County Civic Center were such a fun reminder that your engagement photos don’t have to feel traditional to be special. This Frank Lloyd Wright building gave us the dreamiest mix of color, curves, light, and Wes Anderson-inspired backdrops. And these two leaned all the way in with colorful outfits, cinematic poses, and a playful, editorial feel.
A favorite image from this session, “A Look,” was even selected for the American Photography Association San Francisco exhibit at the end of 2025. It was one of those magical little moments where the light, architecture, color, and connection all lined up just right. The couple caught each other’s eye across the space, and it felt like the whole building paused with them!

These 35mm film photos were some of my favorites from this session. The whole day felt colorful and so fun to photograph. The Marin County Civic Center already has that dreamy Wes Anderson feel, with warm tones, bold lines, curved architecture, and beautiful light.
Their outfits made everything come together so well. Her golden yellow dress and his black shirt with neutral pants worked perfectly with the red floors, gold details, soft greenery, and mid-century feel of the space.
Their outfits helped make the photos feel colorful and creative. It was such a fun reminder that engagement photos can be full of color and non traditional and yet still feel really special!

Alongside the film, I also photographed these Bay Area engagement photos digitally. It was fun to play with a mix of clean portraits, the dramatic lighting, and the incredibly beautiful architecture throughout the Marin County Civic Center. The digital images brought out the bold colors, sharp lines, greenery, and bright California light in a slightly different way, while still keeping that same creative, Wes Anderson-inspired feeling.

I really loved photographing this sweet couples Bay Area engagement photos at the Marin County Civic Center. Between the color, light, architecture, outfits, and 35mm film, this session felt so creative and fun. Your photos can be colorful, playful, cinematic, simple, nostalgic, or completely unique to you. Their session was such proof of that!

“When we got the photos from Laura, we were honestly blown away—they felt like us. We love how the photos captured both the incredible setting and all the little in-between moments we’ll want to remember years from now. We’re so grateful to have these memories, and honestly, the experience was just as special as the photos themselves.”
