These extended family pictures at Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, CA were such a joy to capture. I was lucky enough to meet Kirby and Long in graduation school at UCLA several years ago. Kirby and I worked with the same advisor and quickly became good friends. A few degrees and career shifts later, we’ve both ended up in Northern California as we’ve grown our families. I was overjoyed to capture Kirby and Long’s beautiful family along with Kirby’s sister and parents.

We spent the morning exploring around the beautiful Tilden Park, strolling the paths toward Jewel Lake and ending up under the big oak tree where the little ones could climb, run, and throw leaves. Tilden Park in Berkeley is a favorite spot of mine for family photos, and perfect for extended family pictures. That’s why it lands in my “Top East Bay Area Photography Locations For Family Photos“. It’s a rather large area that provides lots of room for you and your family to explore and for littles to play. Tilden Park has lush forest trails and even beautiful redwood groves that offer the perfect backdrop for any kind of session. There’s even the Little Farm where you can bring some celery or lettuce for the animals if you want. Kids always love that aspect.

Overall this was such a sweet session, and I loved capturing the range of ages and various family groupings. That’s the beauty of extended family sessions, and it’s always fun to see everyone interact with one another.
