This adorable family has lived in San Francisco for over a decade while raising their daughter here. The mother, Ash, happens to be a super talented photographer who has been a mentor to me, and become a very dear friend. Her family’s love of the outdoors and beauty of the natural and urban landscapes in and around SF made Golden Gate Park a perfect location for their family session.

Golden Gate Park is one of my favorite locations for family photos in San Francisco. I always love when families choose a meaningful location to them that resonates and holds meaning. Like many of my sessions, this was captured on a mix of digital and film!

Fun Family Photos at Golden Gate Park in SF

We started at the LOVE blocks, made our way among the beautiful rows of flowers in front of the Conservatory of Flowers, stopped for a treat at an adorable coffee truck, danced in shadows of a tunnel and in the middle of JFK Promenade’s many colorful street murals. We then made our way to the de Young Museum and Skyspace sculpture, with the ferris wheel in view. These buildings reflect light and texture in really beautiful ways. Ash has an incredible artistic eye and these locations resonated with her and my artistic hearts. 🙂

During the pandemic the JFK promenade was shut down to cars (and has always been on Sundays) allowing locals and tourists the freedom to walk, run, bike, scoot and roller skate along the wide roads through the beautiful park. All of the fun things to do in Golden Gate Park and beautiful structures are what make this such a fun location for family photos in San Francisco!
