This at-home San Francisco newborn photoshoot was perfect, and these were dream clients! This was a super mellow and loving family that recently welcomed their first child. We kept things low key with a newborn session in their beautiful San Francisco home.

I shot this newborn photoshoot on a mix of film and digital cameras, capturing close up details of the little baby and artful portraits of the entire family snuggled together on the couch, bed, etc. They also had their dog who was equally as adorable, getting in for snuggles and “kisses” 🙂

A Laid Back At-Home San Francisco Newborn Photoshoot

Newborn sessions often happen at home to allow plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, outfit changes, etc. Clients don’t have to clean their space, but I do ask that they open up window coverings to allow as much natural light in as possible.

I also prompt them to think about any sentimental items they may want to incorporate into a few photos. This can be anything such as hand-me-down or handmade clothing or blankets, items with the baby’s name on it, etc. Capturing images in the nursery and comfort of one’s home often holds special meaning as time goes on, babies grow and spaces changes.

Most of my newborn sessions do happen in the home for all of the reasons listed above. It’s also less stressful. With an at home session, you don’t need to pack a bag and load up your newborn to leave the house. I come to you!
