This beautiful family is truly one of the sweetest families. I was so happy to be able to capture both their at-home Bay Area maternity session and then their newborn session once their precious babe arrived! This family is very open, loving, funny, and real.
I connected with them the moment I met them. They love cuddling together as a family, so an at-home session fits them perfectly! I’m so happy that they chose me as their maternity photographer and newborn photographer!
This maternity session was on a rainy day in Oakland Hills, CA. They had some beautiful sunshine for their newborn session, though. Audrey actually owns her own textile company called Audrey Acosta Designs. As Audrey is a textile designer, and her husband Andreas is an engineer, they have put a lot of work into their home over the years. It has a beautiful layout with an open floor plan on the main level, and sweeping views of the East Bay and San Francisco!
I especially loved the journey from this maternity session to the newborn session. I was able to build rapport with them and capture truly meaningful images during this tender session.
Big sister Linnea was extra loving to her mama’s tummy during the maternity session! She loves art and being creative, and had a blast painting her mama’s tummy! Linnea also loved showing me her old Canon PowerShot camera that she has! When her little sister Zinnia was born, she was so sweet and gentle.
As a newborn photographer and maternity photographer, I love at-home sessions because clients are in their element and therefore more at ease. I get a glimpse into some of their daily routines and small moments of care and connection. The real and raw images captured from at-home sessions are amazing.
When you’re in your own element, it’s much easier to capture the real authentic you. It’s also special to be able to use your own home as a backdrop for your maternity and newborn photography session, too! It can be fun to look back on photos and not only see how your family has grown, but how your home may change over time as well.
“We were gifted a maternity session with Laura when we were 7 months pregnant and it was by far our favorite and most memorable baby shower gift. From our very first interaction via email, it was clear how special our photo session would be. Simply put, Laura has got the magic touch when it comes to photography. She is professional, experienced, super artistic, and has a huge heart. Her nurturing nature invites you to feel relaxed and at ease in her presence. I was impressed with her eye for detail and ability to capture the love in the room. She’s got a great sense of humor and, as an experienced mama herself, was so good with our older daughter who tends to be more reserved.
When we got our pictures back, we were so thrilled that we asked her to return once the baby was born for an additional newborn session. I think what sets her apart as a photographer is that she is able to really connect to you on an emotional level and understand what you are trying to capture in your session. For us, our goal was to document the love, magic, and excitement in the air as we transitioned from a family of 3 to 4. Her work exceeded our hopes. The end result is photos that we will treasure for years to come. “
