This sweet family lives near the Berkeley Rose Garden and Codornices Park so it was an easy choice for their photo session. I love bringing families here. The mix of natural beauty such as the roses, redwood trees, oak trees, creeks, and views of the San Francisco Bay is perfect! Plus, it offers kid-friendly activities like exploring the terraced garden, walking through the tunnel, and playing on the park structures and famous concrete slide.
This session was on a beautiful fall day. We started at the rose garden for some Berkeley Rose Garden photos. Then we made our way over to Codornices Park where we explored among the trees!
These locations are right next to each together and are among my top favorite East Bay photo locations! The Berkeley Rose Garden has a terraced amphitheater. The garden is situated in a small canyon with stunning views of San Francisco, the Bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Additionally, there are more than 100 varieties of roses growing on the terraces. The south side of the park is covered with coast redwoods, bay laurel trees, and coastal live oak trees. It makes for the most beautiful natural backdrop!
The Rose Garden was initially considered an extension of Codornices, an older city park established in 1915. Codornices Park offers a large lawn, picnic area, children’s playground, and its infamous long concrete slide. The Hayward Fault runs right along the line where two forks of Codornices Creek join. There is also a tunnel that connects both the Rose Garden and Codornices Park for easy access.
“Laura did our family photos. They were amazing. She gave us so many photos. She also did a headshot for me for my work, and it’s the first one I’ve liked since I started my job 6 years ago (and I’ve had 2 others taken). Lighting, flattering shots, fun effects, she’s got it all, plus an amazing personality to beat. She’s a pleasure to work with!”
